ScreenComply

    Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about running ScreenComply for exams, assessments and interviews.

What does ScreenComply record during an exam?

ScreenComply observes the exam session at a high level, including AI assistants, overlays and second devices that can sit outside the browser. Observations arrive as timestamped evidence for the instructor and integrity office to review.

    What does ScreenComply never record?

It does not read personal files or log keystrokes, and the agent does not run outside the exam window. Students receive a plain notice of what is and is not collected before the exam.

    What do students install?

Students install the ScreenComply agent on their device before a proctored exam. It runs for the exam window alongside the assessment platform they already use.

What is the difference between Prevent and Detect mode?

Prevent mode closes restricted tools, while Detect mode lets the exam proceed and records behavior for later review. Institutions can start in Detect mode and decide where prevention fits their assessment policies and accommodations.

Who decides whether a student cheated?

The instructor and integrity office decide under their own process. ScreenComply provides evidence, not an automated verdict, and nothing automatically changes a grade or fails a student.

How long is exam data kept?

The institution sets retention under its own policy and agreed data processing terms. Deletion is available on request, and students should be told how long their data will be kept.

How can an assessment platform integrate ScreenComply?

Platforms can use the browser-based API for low-friction assessments or the desktop agent for high-stakes sessions. Both return the same evidence report to the platform for human review.

Can a platform white-label the experience?

Yes. The experience and evidence report can use your brand, with separate client tenants, retention and settings. Your customers retain their own review policies and decisions.

Do platform candidates need to download software?

The browser-based API path requires no candidate download. Sessions using the desktop agent require setup on the test-taker's device, with notice before the assessment.

How does a product team get API access?

Request API access on the assessment platforms page with your work email, company and integration notes. Documentation and an SDK are available on request, along with a sandbox tenant and a named technical contact.

What does ScreenComply provide for interviews?

ScreenComply provides clear evidence and integrity reports to help hiring teams review interview and assessment results. Findings inform a human decision rather than an automatic rejection.

How does a hiring team get started?

Book a demo to discuss your interview workflow and agree a review plan. Our team helps you get set up alongside your existing meeting and assessment tools.

    Who makes the hiring decision?

Your hiring or compliance team makes the decision. ScreenComply provides evidence for human review, not automatic rejection or punishment.

How do we review candidate privacy requirements?

Your legal, IT and compliance teams review the deployment with us, including candidate notice, retention and data residency. Communications should reflect the jurisdictions where you operate.

    Who is ScreenComply for?

ScreenComply serves universities, assessment platforms and employers where trustworthy results and defensible evidence matter. Exams and assessments come first, with support for interviews and submitted work.

    What do interview reviewers receive?

Reviewers receive a clear integrity report with evidence and context for an informed decision. The hiring committee reviews findings under its own policy.

Can interview data retention fit our policy?

Yes. Retention and data residency fit your organization's governance requirements under the agreed data processing terms. Your team decides what information it needs to retain for review.

Does setup require a new assessment platform?

No. ScreenComply works alongside the meeting and assessment tools you already use. Your team agrees the review approach before deployment.

    What review layers are available?

Application Review, Video Review and Content Review provide evidence for live sessions, recorded sessions and submitted work. Your team reviews the findings with the relevant assessment or interview context.

    How are candidates informed?

Candidate notice is part of the agreed review process and is provided before the session. Your team reviews communications for the jurisdictions in which you operate.
