Check your device before your exam.

Prepare the device you will use for your exam before the assessment window begins. This local check shows the information your browser can expose about your operating system, browser, screen and permission state. It helps you identify questions to resolve with the organizer, but it cannot certify compatibility with an exam whose requirements have not been provided.

Device-check results stay here. Nothing from the check is sent anywhere.

    What does your browser report?

A mint check means information is available, not that your exam requirements are met.

    What does the check do?

The check reads basic device information available to this browser and presents it on this page. It lists the operating system and any version the browser exposes, the browser, screen resolution and the permission state for the webcam and microphone where that state is supported. It also reports estimated browser storage capacity where available, which is not the same as free disk space.

Compare the results with the instructions sent by your school, employer or assessment provider. A visible check means the browser supplied that information; it is not a promise that a particular device meets every exam requirement. This page does not know your exam’s minimum operating-system version, required browser, storage needs or enabled session checks.

    What stays on your device?

The device-check results stay in this page’s memory and are not submitted to ScreenComply or your assessment organizer. The check does not upload a report, save results to an account or send a readiness verdict. Refreshing or closing this page clears the displayed results. Ordinary page loading is separate from the local check.

The button does not open your camera, record audio or request access to a media stream. Where your browser supports permission queries, the page reads the existing state: allowed, blocked or not yet requested. If that information is unavailable, a plain note asks you to review the browser settings rather than presenting an unsupported check as a pass.

What if a result needs attention?

Read the note beside the item and compare it with your exam instructions. If the browser cannot identify an operating-system version or permission state, that means the information was not exposed here, not that your computer has failed. Use the organizer’s approved preparation process to confirm the requirement before the session begins.

If a webcam or microphone is blocked, review the permission settings for the exam’s own website as well as the device settings. Permission on this page is not permission on every assessment website. Managed school or workplace computers may also need help from the relevant support team before a setting can be changed.

What is collected during an exam?

This preparation check is not an exam session and does not start proctoring. The checks enabled for your assessment are chosen and disclosed by the organization arranging it. Read its notice before the exam and ask which applications, camera or microphone checks apply, who reviews the evidence and how questions about the session record are handled.

The student information page explains exam-window collection and what is not collected, including no file reading, keystroke logging or monitoring outside the exam window. The FERPA and Student Data page provides institutional context. Use those pages alongside the notice for your particular exam rather than assuming this local readiness check describes every assessment configuration.

Who can help before the exam?

Contact the school, employer or assessment provider that invited you if the instructions and these local results do not line up. Include the plain result or note that concerns you, without sending passwords or unrelated personal files. The organizer can explain the supported setup, required installation and the help route available for that assessment.

Raise accommodation needs and managed-device restrictions before the assessment window where possible. Your organizer can confirm permitted tools and an approved preparation route. Do not interpret a missing browser capability, a denied permission or a setup warning as an academic or hiring decision; resolve the device question with the team responsible for your session.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What do I need installed?

Follow the instructions from the organization arranging your exam. Some assessment workflows require the ScreenComply desktop agent, while a browser-based workflow may have different preparation steps; this local page does not install anything or determine which workflow your exam uses.

Does this send anything to ScreenComply?

The device-check results are not sent to ScreenComply or your organizer. They remain in this page’s memory and disappear when the page is refreshed or closed; loading the website itself is separate from running this local check.

What if my webcam is blocked?

Review your browser and operating-system camera settings for the exam website, then follow the organizer’s preparation instructions. This check does not request camera access or capture an image, and a managed device may require help from your school or workplace support team.

Who do I contact if the check fails?

Contact the school, employer or assessment provider that invited you. A missing result means this browser could not expose the information, not an automatic exam failure; the organizer can confirm requirements, accommodations and the right preparation steps.
